We have all read the articles describing Google+ as a Ghost town and in reality this is true. I lacks some very important basic features and is just a complete mess when you try and actually use it like a social network. Aaron KocourekThey have a long way to go cause the fact is that if 1 billion people started using it tomorrow most of them would stop, it really is that bad. Regardless I still see a great amount of opportunity here, if I could go back to when Facebook was just a few months old I could make millions a month knowing what I know now. So I am taking my social media knowledge and applying it to Google+, I am building up my communities to be the dominate ones in each of my verticals, so far I have been quite successful but that is not a huge accomplishment. On Facebook the dominant page in my vertical is nearly 2 million people, on Google plus my community is the largest with just 459 members … but still I am focusing on laying the ground work hoping that in a year it begins paying off. Well today I logged in to do more and noticed that traffic according to Analytics has risen to the level as Pinterest, I was completely shocked. The number of comments and +1’s on my post was nearly equivalent to my massive pages on Facebook with only a tiny fraction of the users. This shows me that 1) Google+ users are much more engaged so 10 +1’s is probably equivalent to 100 likes and 2) Google+ is not a Ghost Town it is just a less social and harder to reach people on.I will do a few followup posts as things progress but it is great to see that my efforts are not being wasted and that my goals are being accomplished with nice traffic numbers to back them up.
